The Assessor’s Office is responsible for determining the value of real property within the municipality for taxation purposes.

The office maintains property records, prepares and updates the assessment roll, and ensures that all properties are assessed fairly and uniformly in accordance with New York State law. It also administers property tax exemptions (such as STAR, veterans, and senior exemptions), processes assessment changes (including subdivisions and lot line adjustments), and assists property owners with questions about their assessments.

Additionally, the Assessor’s Office handles grievance procedures, where property owners can formally challenge their assessed value, and works closely with the county and state to maintain compliance and reporting standards.
